A Brisbane man watched as a garbage truck dumped the contents of his green rubbish bin all over the street in September.

A homeowner has hit out at his advice after a worker accidentally dumped waste onto his street while trying to empty his wheelie bin before fleeing the scene.

CCTV captured the moment a Brisbane man watched as a rubbish collector unsuccessfully tried to empty his green bin in September.

The truck’s mechanical arm failed to properly lift the bin, causing the man’s garden waste to spill onto the road.

After its first attempt, the truck repeated the same action only to dump even more waste.

The truck drove away and the man had to throw his waste back into the container for collection the following week.

He shared the footage on TikTok and accused the municipal worker of illegally dumping the container’s contents onto the street and suggested he deserved a fine.

“So Brisbane City Council this is how your green waste collectors do their job,” the caption read.

‘How professional is your way of driving and leaving a mess? A fine for this illegal dumping is in order, I’m thinking, yeah?

City Standards civic cabinet chair Sarah Hutton said it was always “incredibly disappointing” when bin collections did not go as planned.

Hutton added that the disaster should not have been left behind.

“Container collection sometimes doesn’t go to plan, but seeing this mess on our streets is incredibly disappointing and the driver should have stopped and cleaned up,” he said.

“If residents ever see a spilled bin, please report it to Council via our 24/7 contact center and we will be on site within a few hours to clean it up.”
