An Australian mother has gone on a rant about how tedious it is to prepare dinner every night and has called for a boycott of dinner.
The founder of children’s brand Angus the Label, Emma Kenney, expressed her “good opinion” in a recent TikTok video, with many mothers agreeing.
“Surely none of us want to have dinner, I have no interest in sitting down at the table to enjoy a meal,” Kenney told his followers.
“I don’t want to cook it, I don’t want to think about what we’re going to eat or make a meal plan, I don’t want to discuss it and I don’t want to show up.”
Kenny added that she’s sick of being “expected to think about dinner” every night instead of ordering food every night when she was single.
“We’re canceling dinner,” he said.
The video has since gone viral with more than 3,700 comments from viewers.
Many admitted that they “hate” making dinner and instead feel ecstatic when they no longer have the pressure of their partner or children at home.
“I swear dinner gives me the most anxiety because I’m supposed to make food that’s cheap but nutritious,” one wrote.
‘It has to be varied and interesting and I’m supposed to know how to achieve that?’
A second said they broke down when their ex-husband asked them to “write a weekly menu so he knew what they were cooking.”
“My husband was away working for 3 months and all I ate was microwaved food, takeaways and snacks,” a third commented.
“He came back yesterday and I’m already sick of him asking me what you want for dinner.”
Australian mother Emma Kenney (pictured) has complained about how tedious it is to prepare dinner for her family every night and has called for a food boycott.
Keeney said he had “no interest” in sitting at the table with his family after cooking them a meal and then repeating the process every day.
“I hate dinner time, always have, sitting there and being forced to eat when I’m not hungry,” a fourth user wrote.
“I cook dinner, but I don’t force anyone to eat if they’re not feeling it.”
But some did see food as a crucial part of being a family, and many claimed it was one of the few times they could sit down and talk.
“I love dining,” said one viewer.
“We sat down, turned off all the electrical appliances and just talked to each other.”
Another added: ‘Dinner is an important time when the family can come together, talk about their days and spend some time together.
“We don’t see each other enough anymore with our hectic schedules.”
