A sunbather has been hailed a hero after removing his underwear and jumping into the water to save the life of a young kangaroo.
Local Anette Oakes managed to capture the incredible rescue in Port Noarlunga in Adelaide on Friday morning, revealing the man had saved the kangaroo after it jumped into the surf and began struggling in the surf.
“A scared little roo got confused after bouncing off the boardwalk construction area at Port Noarlunga,” he wrote on a community Facebook page.
So I decided that swimming would be a good idea. It wasn’t.’
The kangaroo was “being submerged and definitely needed a hand” when the “legend” spotted him and saved him, Ms Oakes said.
“He stripped naked and jumped down to guide the roo back to safety,” he wrote.
Social media users applauded the man, who has not yet been identified, and many were also impressed by his physique.
“Looks like an Australian travel ad to encourage tourism,” one person said.

“How can I get him to rescue me?” wrote a third.
“Looks like I’m going to the beach tomorrow to pretend to drown,” joked a fourth.
Kangaroos are generally considered good swimmers, although they are rarely seen doing so in the ocean.
They typically swim across rivers to get from one grazing plot to the next. using their tails to propel themselves through the water.
