A social media star who came under fire for claiming that being an influencer is “hard work” has responded with a sarcastic message for her haters.
Veronica B, known for her sketches about Middle Eastern stereotypes, found herself in hot water last week after an interview at Sydney’s TikTok Awards went viral.
The comedian was asked about her line of work while posing on the red carpet moments after arriving at the awards show in a Rolls Royce.
“I know it seems like fun, but it’s hard work,” Veronica said of her influencer work.
“You have to think about the content, you have to edit it, you have to film it, you have to be constantly relevant and that’s not easy.”
Veronica was quickly criticized for being “out of touch” by viewers of the viral clip.
‘I just got home from a 13-hour shift, on my feet for 11 of those 13, but damn, this must have been hard! Praying for you,’ one woman wrote.
‘I think the disconnect can be because a job is ‘difficult’ and ‘takes time.’ Even if it takes time to edit a movie, etc., it’s not necessarily “hard” work, another wrote.

“I finished my 12 hour night shift and am about to start my next shift four hours later but this must have been really hard for you,” a third commented.
“Oops, you have a lot of free time to comment on my TikTok,” Veronica responded.
“Your work should not be too hard.”
The influencer addressed the criticism nearly a week later in an apology that initially seemed genuine before quickly taking on a sarcastic tone.
“I’ve been facing a lot of online harassment through all my commenters and direct messages, and I’ve had time to reflect,” Veronica said.
‘I’ve been reflecting, I’ve been seeing all the perspectives you’re writing online and I just wanted to come here and apologize.
“I’m sorry to be honest and share my honest experience. I forgot it’s 2024 and if your opinion doesn’t align with the vocal minority then your opinion is wrong.”
She then mocked commentators who told her to “hit the grass,” meaning spend less time online, by filming herself sitting in a field.

Other Australian stars on the red carpet, such as OnlyFans star Anna Paul (pictured), were praised for openly admitting that her job is easier than most.
“I don’t know why everyone told me to touch the grass,” he said.
‘I guess I feel more connected to the earth. Thank you for recommending.”
Other Australian stars, including Peach PRC, Anna Paul and Brittney Saunders, were praised for bluntly admitting their job was easier than most.
‘Other people wake up and work 10 hours straight on their feet. Are you lying in bed, posting a little video and complaining? Get a different job,’ Paul said.
‘All you influencers out there, enjoy it. You’re living the dream!’ Saunders said.
However, Veronica doubled down on her stance in another video by breaking down the tasks she has to perform to keep her online following.
“Being an influencer doesn’t just mean posting videos, it’s not that, there is much more,” he said.
‘I don’t have an admin, I run two successful Instagram and TikTok accounts and do everything myself.
‘I dedicate five hours a day to administration. Editing, editing takes hours. I also do sketches.
‘It’s not easy, okay? All the organizing and emailing and sending that a manager would normally do, I do that too.’
Veronica (pictured) finally admitted that she doesn’t “have the hardest job,” but she spends hours on “administrative” tasks and editing her videos every day.
Veronica also addressed commenters who said she was “complaining” about her job.
“I’m not complaining, I love what I do,” he said.
“I feel very blessed to be able to do what I do… I’m not saying I have the hardest job.”
A handful of Veronica’s followers applauded the influencer for speaking openly about the difficult parts of creating content online.
‘I understand what you’re saying. Creating content and editing videos is time-consuming and definitely mentally exhausting. Yes, there are other jobs that are much harder mentally and physically and being an influencer cannot be compared to other jobs, but I understand where you are coming from,” one wrote.
‘I am a healthcare worker and although it is exhausting, I come home and have time to relax. I couldn’t do what you do! It would be mentally exhausting,” said another.
‘Violent reaction is definitely not necessary. She’s just saying it’s hard for her based on her experience,” wrote another.
