Australian cricket superstar Alyssa Healy has taken a leaf from Sam Kerr and Andrew Symonds’ books by confronting a pitch invader while leading her women’s Premier League T20 team to victory in India on Wednesday.
Healy, 33, was the wicketkeeper at the time for UP Warriorz, and was clearly in no mood for a long delay on the field against the Mumbai Indians in Bengaluru.
She risked her body to detain the unwanted guest long enough for security to intervene.
Then chasing 162 for victory, Healy contributed a valuable 33 off 29 balls as his team recorded a much-needed victory after back-to-back losses to start the tournament.
After the match, Healy remained silent about her encounter with the spectator, preferring to focus on the result.

In 2021, Australian football superstar Sam Kerr showed off his AFL hitting skills, smashing a pitch invader with a shoulder charge for the ages while playing for Chelsea.
The late Andrew Symonds did the same during a one-day international cricket match in 2008 at the Gabba in Brisbane.
‘I’m just proud of the girls. They have never at any point lowered their heads after our campaign start, they just come back every day and work even harder,” she stated.
“We are delighted to get on the board and beat a quality team like Mumbai.
“It’s good to be able to get a win, but we still have a lot of work to do.”
The Warriorz, currently fourth in the WPL standings, will take on the Gujarat Giants on March 2 at 1am AEDT.
Cricket fans around the world were impressed with Healy’s fearless nature when it came to the rebellious ‘fan’.
He also drew instant comparisons with fellow Australian sports stars Kerr and Symonds, who both had their own incidents with pesky pitch invaders.
In December 2021, Kerr, playing for Chelsea, crushed a man on the field trying to take a selfie with an ‘AFL-style’ shoulder charge for good.
And in 2008, Symonds, who died following a car crash in May 2022, shoulder-charged a pitch invader at the Gabba in Brisbane during a one-day international against India, with the naked spectator coming in second.
