An Australian man has started washing his face before bed to make sure he’s not dreaming after winning $1 million in the lottery.

The Adelaide man checked his Lott’s Weekday surprise draw ticket last Wednesday and discovered he had become an overnight millionaire.

The lucky Australian from Brompton, in the city’s northern hinterland, told a Lott official he was still excited after receiving the news.

He even admitted that he couldn’t sleep after checking his ticket.

“I checked my ticket last night just before I went to bed and I wasn’t expecting it at all,” the man said.

‘I didn’t believe it! I quickly went to the bathroom, washed my face and checked again. I had to make sure I wasn’t dreaming.

“I woke up my wife and we both stayed up all night.”

The man said the money meant he could finally pay his mortgage, adding that the money was “changing his life”.

Millionaire said he washed his face and stayed awake at night, thinking he was dreaming after winning the lottery.

He revealed that a change in strategy helped him get the huge sum.

“I had favorite regular numbers that I had been picking for almost three years, but they never won anything, so I recently switched to buying QuickPicks,” he said.

Your 25-game ticket was purchased through the lottery app.

The winning numbers were 20, 39, 42, 26, 5 and 25. Their supplementary numbers were 36 and 17.

So far this year, 25 of The Lott’s 260 division one winners have been from South Australia.

The Weekday Windfall giveaway has made 98 Australians millionaires.

In that time there were 108 top division winning entries across Australia, collectively winning $107 million.

Across The Lott’s entire range of lottery brands, including Powerball, Oz Lotto and Set for Life, more than 132.8 million winners have won more than $4.4 billion in prizes.
