  • There are also calming VR programs that passengers can use while traveling

This week at CES in Las Vegas, Audi gave hands-on demonstrations of its latest concept car, a self-driving car called AI: Me or “Amy.”

The German luxury car manufacturer describes AI: Me as an “empathic mobility partner” that transports passengers to “an oasis of peace” while the car’s autonomous navigation system cuts through stressful city traffic.

AI: Me is built with a compact frame that is specially designed to be able to drive through busy urban spaces and to fit tight parking spaces.

The spacious inside cabin is designed to offer passengers the opportunity to forget the major concerns of the city and to focus on inner peace and self-care.

AI: Me actually has a “Well-Being” mode that allows users to adjust the light level, mute the outside noise of the car and “purify” the air in the cabin.

The cabin itself is designed to emphasize natural materials, including a long wooden dashboard that can serve as a table or small desk, and carpets made from recycled fishing nets on the seabed.

“We brought nature from the outside in,” said Audi Simona Falcinella last year when AI: Me was first unveiled in Shanghai.

“The colors and material give you a lot of light and a great sense of space.”

AI: Me will also have an advanced UI system that allows passengers to change the interior settings of the car and even request a snack from a hidden food compartment.

WHAT IS THE AUDI AI: ME?

The Audi AI: Me (pronounced ‘Amy’) is a new concept car from the German car manufacturer.

The self-driving car emphasizes passenger calm and tranquility.

It is designed on a compact frame and intended for busy city rides.

However, the interior is designed as ‘an oasis of tranquility’.

The car has a ‘Well-Being’ mode that muffles the outside noise, purifies the interior air and dims the interior lighting.

The dashboard on the front has a long black screen that responds to voice commands, gestures or even eye tracking, allowing them to select an option on the screen by looking at it for a few seconds.

The car is also equipped with a virtual reality headset that works with a number of tailor-made experiences designed to help passengers stay calm in traffic.

In one demo, described by Engadgetpassengers can imagine that they are flying in a helicopter above a city in China, with the movements of the helicopter synchronized with the movement of the car.

Audi has not disclosed price information or release date.
