Au! Painful moment when man falls off a ladder with his head while pruning the tree, but escapes with only cuts and bruises
- Paul Johnston from Huyton in Liverpool snapped his nose after falling
- In a video of the accident, the part of the tree that his ladder ran into fell away
- Paul tumbled backwards and spent a few hours in the hospital, but recovered
A man who fell two meters down a ladder while trying to cut down a tree narrowly avoided breaking his back or spiking himself on his scissors.
Paul Johnston, from Huyton, Liverpool, snapped his nose and spent a few hours in the hospital after falling from the tree.
In a video of the accident, shot by his friend Dale, Paul was balancing uncertainly on top of the ladder leaning against the tree trunk.
He held out his arms while trying to reach the branches with the scissors to cut the leaf back.

At one point, a woman said, “It doesn’t look stable.”
Moments later, as she talks to Dale about using an electric saw for the job, the section of the tree that Paul’s ladder balances against makes way.
As the woman screams, Paul’s foot falls off the ladder through the rung and he falls over, landing with a thump on his back.
A photo of Paul after the fall shows his face covered in blood and scratches.
Dale shared the clip with the caption, “Just came to cut down the trees.”

“Paul came out of the hospital last night. He is now recovering at home. ‘
Despite the potentially life-threatening nature of the trap, the video left its viewers.
