Atletico Madrid are reportedly reconsidering their interest in Manchester United loanee Mason Greenwood based on the club’s asking price.

The 22-year-old, a graduate of United’s academy, looks set to move this summer with several Champions League clubs monitoring his situation.

Since leaving United on loan in the summer, the striker has played an integral role for José Bordalás’ Getafe, registering eight goals and five assists in all competitions during his first season in Spain.

One of the teams most closely linked with Greenwood is Atlético Madrid, and Diego Simeone’s side are said to be interested in bringing the England international to the Estadio Metropolitano.

However, according to a report from a Spanish publication Sports world It seems that the agreement will be complicated by the fee demanded by United.

The publication claims that United are determined to sell Greenwood for 49.8 million pounds (58 million euros), a fee that the Colchoneros consider “scandalous.”

Mail Sport reported in February that United’s new co-owner and head of football operations Sir Jim Ratcliffe had opened the door for Greenwood to potentially return to Old Trafford.

“It’s a new decision,” he said.

‘I can talk about the beginning. I’m not going to talk about Mason. I’m familiar with that. The principle is the important one. We will have other problems in the future.

‘These are young people who have not always been raised in the best circumstances, who have a lot of money and do not always have the guidance they should have.

“What we must do when we have problems like that is to understand that what is real affects, not exaggerations, and then we must make a fair decision in light of the club’s values. That is what we have to do and that is how we will approach it “.
