Court documents revealed that Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small Sr. and his wife were recorded abusing their daughter by her boyfriend, as the couple faces charges of endangering the welfare of their son.

Court documents revealed that the teen’s boyfriend recorded moments on Facetime in which the Smalls abused their daughter.
Both parents have been charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child after police raided their home.
‘[Her boyfriend] stated that during the week of December 10, 2023, she witnessed through video chat on different occasions how her father yelled at her and physically abused her, specifically by suffocating her. “She described JS’s clothes torn and her body bruised after the incidents of abuse,” the affidavit states.
Video obtained by detectives from the boyfriend’s iPad captured an incident on Jan. 3 in which Marty told his daughter, “I’m going to hurt you.”
The 16-year-old had asked her father to move away so she could go to school, to which Marty responded, “Sit down.” I will beat the tissue out of your head.
‘I don’t care where I push you… I’m going to throw her down the stairs! Get past this line and I’ll grab you by the head and throw you to the ground! Nothing is going to happen to me,’ Marty said.
Another incident involved Marty allegedly hitting his daughter repeatedly on the legs causing bruises.
On Jan. 7, an incident occurred between the 16-year-old girl who was asking her mother to remove her collar and said her mother punched her in the mouth, according to the affidavit.
La’Quetta said, ‘Who are you telling to leave you aside, girl!’ You don’t control me. You don’t control me. And I will touch you when I want to touch you.
The teen said her boyfriend once had food delivered to her house and when La’Quetta found out, he threw the food, dragged her daughter by her hair and then hit her with a belt, leaving welts on her shoulders.
During one incident, La’Quetta allegedly punched his daughter several times in the chest, leaving bruises.
The charges were prompted when the mayor’s daughter told a school staff member about the alleged abuse.
In January, students at Atlantic City High School were receiving mental health training and were asked to circle faces on a ticket indicating whether they were happy, neutral or sad.
According to the affidavit, Small’s daughter wrote the word “abuse” on the back of a neutral ticket and asked to speak to a counselor.
She then told a mental health coach that she had been hit with a broom and described her father as a “big guy,” according to the complaint. She added that she had previously told Principal Days-Chapman.
Days-Chapman claimed she had not been told before, but told the counselor she would report the alleged abuse to the Department of Child Protection and Permanency.

When contacted by the therapist, La’Quetta allegedly said her daughter was struggling with personal issues because of a “young man” her parents did not approve of.
Both parents have been charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and Marty Small is also charged with third-degree terroristic threats, third-degree aggravated assault, and simple assault on a disorderly person.
La’Quetta is also charged with simple assault on a disorderly person, and Atlantic City High School Principal Constance Days-Chapman, a close friend of the mayor and his wife, also faces charges.
Days-Chapman is accused of failing to notify authorities when the teen told her her parents were “physically and emotionally abusive.”
