Athletic Bilbao fans and police clash with FIRES outbreak as thousands of crazy supporters take to the streets for the Copa del Rey final against rivals Real Sociedad

Athletic Bilbao fans violently clashed with police on the streets of Bilbao ahead of Saturday’s postponed Copa del Rey final against Real Sociedad.

Video footage shows thousands of crazy Bilbao fans throwing and setting rockets on what appears to be a large container, breaking glass all around and some fans even throwing their drinking bottles into burning hell.

In one video, you can see a Bilbao fan jump from the top of a lamp post and crash right into the road. He then gets up, apparently not seriously injured, and continues with his fellow fans.

Bilbao played against Real Socieded in the final of the Copa del Rey in Seville last year, which was postponed due to the corona virus pandemic.

Sociedad defeated Bilbao 1-0 with captain Mikel Oyarzabal scoring the only goal of the match from the penalty spot.

The local police had to intervene in the growing crowd, which had gathered close to Athletic’s San Memes stadium. Several were pelted with bottles and other missiles.

The fans’ actions also blatantly run counter to Spain’s pandemic, with the crowd of fans ignoring social distance guidelines and some of them not wearing a face mask.

Bilbao fans had already angered several Spaniards on Thursday when they shouted at the city’s airport to see their football club on their trip to Seville.

Similar scenes occurred in San Sebastian on Friday, as Real Sociedad fans also gathered to say goodbye to their club ahead of the final in violation of the protocols of the coronavirus pandemic.
