The clash follows an ongoing debate over events celebrating Pride month at school
Footage posted by the Twitter user shows a man lying on the ground.
“He must be in pain! a protester is heard saying with a “Leave our children alone” shirt.
Officers were at the scene to “facilitate a peaceful and lawful exercise of constitutional rights,” the LAPD said on Twitter.
The clash comes after the school announced an event celebrating Pride Month.
Parents created an Instagram account on May 16 called “saticoyelementaryparents” to protest the school’s upcoming Pride assembly where teachers read a book by Mary Hoffman called “The Great Big Book of Families.”
He talks about diversity and “all kinds of families,” including those with LGBTQ+ parents.
And just three days later, parents pulled their children out of a class that was being taught by a transgender substitute teacher, three school sources said.
After the Instagram account was created, an intruder broke into the school and set the flag on fire.
A full-time teacher, who is a transgender man, discovered his remains in a flowerpot which was also smashed.
Anger has escalated within the school community over an upcoming Pride assembly and parents have planned a protest against the ‘inappropriate’ event on Friday.

The transgender teacher was removed from Saticoy Primary School for his own safety, said a source who wished to remain anonymous.
His image was removed from the school’s website, but an image of the teacher before and after his transition was posted on Instagram pages used by parents against the Pride assembly.
‘This is the trans special education/3rd grade teacher (first pictured as female, later as male) at Saticoy Elementary who made it a point to send a message to [Armenian] children on [Pride]”, the message read.
