At least 100 people were killed and 150 others injured in a fire during a wedding celebration in the Hamdaniya district of Iraq’s Nineveh province, Iraqi state media said Wednesday.
The fire ravaged a large event hall in the country’s northeastern region after fireworks were lit during the celebration, local civil defense said, according to state media.
Video from a Reuters correspondent at the scene showed firefighters climbing the charred rubble of the building in search of survivors. Fears are growing about the number of deaths.
