  • Nitric oxide, or “laughing gas,” is extremely dangerous and can cause death

Aston Villa star Leon Bailey has filmed himself appearing to inhale ‘laughing gas’ after a night of partying.

Bailey, 25, who signed for Premier League club Aston Villa in 2021 for a reported £25 million, took the video from a car.

The Jamaican footballer is seen holding a giant balloon to his lips as he allegedly sucks up the potentially deadly nitrous oxide.

Bailey appeared to be singing to music from the front seat of a car as he looked into the camera and inhaled the contents of the balloon.

The video was reportedly taken the morning after his club Aston Villa’s 2-0 win over Everton last Saturday at Goodison Park, following a night of partying. A timestamp and location at the bottom of the video would read, “Birmingham 7.19am.”

The 25-year-old wore a black T-shirt and cap as he appeared to be hopping to the music blaring from his car.

The sunwho released the video reported that Bailey had attended a friend’s birthday party on Saturday night following his 61st-minute substitution in last week’s Premier League game.

Inhaling nitrous oxide is legal, but because of its psychoactive effect it is a crime to supply.

Drawing the gas in makes the user lightheaded, as it essentially slows down the brain. It is generally believed to have an effect of euphoria and calm, as well as giggles.

The effects generally last a few minutes, but inhaling too much can lead to suffocation from lack of oxygen.

Bailey signed for Aston Villa in 2021 as one of three high-profile signings the club made after selling their talisman Jack Grealish to Manchester City for £100 million.

In regards to the club’s takeovers and Grealish’s previous alleged antics, one user wrote on Twitter: ‘When (Christian) Purslow said he broke down all the attributes of Jack Grealish and found them in 3 players – Danny Ings, Emi Buendia and Leon Bailey – now we all know which attribute is Leon Bailey.”

Another user wrote, “Leon Bailey: Laughter on *and* off the field.”

The Jamaican met the then Duke and Duchess of Cambridge alongside Raheem Sterling and Jamaica’s bobsleigh stars last year in historic Trench Town, the island’s birthplace of reggae music.

Bailey lined up alongside Sterling and the Jamaica bobsleigh team in his training kit for the Jamaica national team to meet William and Kate. Huge numbers turned up to welcome the royals to the historic city.

Bailey was inspired by Usain Bolt as a child growing up in Jamaica where he wanted to be a footballer or sprinter.

As a young child, he played for the Phoenix All Stars Academy in Kingston, which also served as a foster home. The academy coach Craig Butler adopted Bailey as one of 23 children.

Bailly previously played for Bayer Leverkusen in Germany and Belgian club Genk.

His Aston Villa side will now welcome Crystal Palace later today, who sit just one spot below them in the table.
