Aston Villa is bracing for loan offers for record-breaking teenage striker Cameron Archer ahead of next week’s transfer deadline.
Archer announced himself in spectacular fashion by scoring a hat-trick on his full-length debut for the club in Tuesday’s League Cup win at Barrow.
The 19-year-old, who could be lining up for a new deal with just one year left on his current contract, became the youngest player to score a treble for Villa since Gary Shaw in 1979.
Aston Villa will weigh loan offers for hat-trick hero Cameron Archer before deadline
Archer, 19, marked his full debut with a hat-trick in the 6-0 win over Barrow in the Carabao Cup
His exploits have now brought a number of EFL clubs on their toes and Villa has made the trade-off between loaning him to continue his development or keeping him with Dean Smith’s first team.
Archer pushed his way into Smith’s plans after scoring a hat-trick in recent internal team matches and then scoring in consecutive Under 23s matches.
He just missed a place in their squad for last week’s 2-0 Premier League win over Newcastle before getting his first start against Barrow, two years after his debut in the same competition against Crewe.
Dean Smith will consider whether to loan him out to continue his development or keep him at Villa
