Jhon Durán called Bayern Munich the “club of my dreams” after leading Aston Villa to victory against the Bavarian giants.
Despite enjoying a good start to the campaign, Durán has made just one start in all competitions for Unai Emery’s side, and was again on the bench when Villa Park hosted the Bundesliga club.
With the score still tied 0-0 heading into the final minutes, the 20-year-old replaced Ollie Watkins and quickly continued his incredible form in front of goal.
After a lofted pass from Pau Torres out of defense, Durán caught Manuel Neuer off his line and launched his shot over the goalkeeper to cause chaos in the crowd.
After the game, Durán described the experience of scoring such a crucial and dreamlike goal.

“I feel happy to be able to score, and even more so against a great team like Bayern Munich, which is the club of my dreams,” he said. ‘
“I’m happy to be man of the match against this team, which was also my dream.”
The 20-year-old has scored six goals in all competitions for the Villans this season, marking a notable turnaround after he looked set to leave the clubs this summer.
West Ham were one of several clubs interested in signing the striker, and he appeared to make his preferred destination clear by sharing a photo on social media of him crossing his arms in an apparent nod to the Hammers crest.
Durán ultimately remained at Villa and Emery subsequently insisted that the Colombian international would have to be patient as he waited for an opportunity to demonstrate his ability.
Durán also detailed his relationship with Villa fans after he attempted to seal his exit from the club this summer.
With the transfer saga now behind him, Durán shared his appreciation for the club’s fan base.
“I think it’s all part of the job, being focused, waiting for the opportunity and seizing the moment.” Durán continued.
“I thank the fans who have supported me since I arrived, we have had a couple of disagreements, but I think we are on good terms now and I am happy that they give me that affection and love.”
Durán will look to continue his prolific start to the season when a struggling Man United side travel to the West Midlands on Sunday.
