An Adelaide Footy League club has achieved a record-breaking thrashing to start its 2024 season, with one forward midfielder scoring an incredible 22 goals in the rout.

Eastern Park enjoyed a big win over Elizabeth with a score of 55.17 (347) to 1.1 (7) over the weekend, marking the biggest win for the club and one of the largest in the history of the league.

Chris Knapp, a standout midfielder who returned to the Demons from Loxton this season, was moved into the forward line due to a lack of key players.

He stood out in his new role, scoring 22 goals of the team’s total

“To be honest, it was surreal,” Knapp said. news corporation.

“I have never participated in a match like this before and 22 goals is definitely my best result.

‘I normally play on the wing or in the middle, but some guys dropped out and I put my hand up to go forward.

“I was hoping to finish some.”

The club favorite, after scoring only one goal in the first quarter, added 21 more goals in the next three quarters.

Thanks to precise passing from his midfielders, Knapp managed to score goals both from inside and beyond the 50-meter line, making this match one he will always remember.

“The guys started to push their way through the middle and looked down to find me,” he said.

“I kicked 10 in the second and they put an extra back on me at one point, so it took some really good use of the ball from the boys.

“Once I started getting close to 20 goals, everyone was pretty committed on the field and on the wings, so it was a good feeling.”

As expected, the victory has filled the club with confidence and Knapp is expecting a great season.

“I think we’re a really strong team this year and the small field at Eastern Park can be quite overwhelming,” he said.

“Honestly, this is the strongest I have seen at the football club in a long time.” We’ve had some decent recruits and returning players as well.

“We don’t have everyone available at the moment, but we hope to be back to full fitness soon and hopefully build some momentum after the big win.”

“Internally we know we have the potential to be close to the mark this season, but we want to stay calm and take each game as it comes.”

Surprisingly, the huge result is not the biggest in Aussie Rules history; in fact, it doesn’t even make the top 10.

The highest score ever in an Aussie Rules senior match was by Campell’s Creek in the Maryburough Castlemaine District Football League, which destroyed Primrose 634-18 in 1990.

Maryborough Rovers won the premiership in 1990 and, unsurprisingly, Primrose are no longer in the competition.
