The Asian Cup 2018 begins on September 15 with Bangladesh facing Sri Lanka in the opening match of the tournament to be held in Dubai. However, all eyes will be on the India vs Pakistan match scheduled for September 19. The matches between the two countries have become a rarity in recent years and once again the contest will be followed by cricket fans around the world. But the engineer and leader of India, Virat Kohli, will be a great absentee, having rested for the tournament and the main pacer of Pakistan, Hasan Ali, believes that it will serve his team.
Hasan Ali dismissed the comparisons with Virat Kohli, saying that the Indian captain was a legend.
"There is no need to compare with Virat Kohli, he is my father, he is a legend, I concentrate on my physical condition because that gives me consistency," Ali said at www.icc-cricket.com.
Despite the absence of Kohli, Hasan Ali is cautious about the threat posed by some of the other players in the Indian cricket team.
"Yes, there is an advantage for us that the way Virat Kohli can handle the pressure, someone else who comes in his place might not be able to do it."
The last time the two teams met, Pakistan surprised India to take the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017. India was one of the favorites to take the trophy home, as it had already obtained the best of his archrivals before in the tournament. But the century of Fakhar Zaman and the brilliance of Mohammad Amir and Hasan Ali with the ball gave an unlikely but memorable triumph for Pakistan.
"We are at the top right now. [India] they are under pressure from the previous defeat.
"In the UAE, these are our conditions, we have the advantage of playing at home, since we have been playing here for a long time, and we are aware of how to use the conditions," Hasan Ali said.
Hasan Ali has taken 68 lands in 33 ODI and ranks third in the ICC ODI Rankings for bowlers.
