With just over eight months to go to the ICC Cricket World Cup, the next Asia 2018 Cup is considered a great platform for preparation before the cricket exhibition event. With five of the six teams involved in the Asian Cup taking part in the 2019 World Cup, the players are enthusiastic about part of the event, as they will face the best in the region. The rhythm sensation of India and the current ODI number one player, Jasprit Bumrah, before the start of the Asian Cup, shared their enthusiasm for being part of the six-nation tournament. The 24-year-old said he expected the tournament and hoped to give his best.

"Being at the top of the ICC rankings is a big matter of pride for me, we will play against some important players and I know that conditions can be difficult, but I hope to be at my best," Jasprit Bumrah was quoted as saying. ICC press release.

Team captain Sarfraz Ahmed called the Asian Cup a great opportunity for the team in the run up to the World Cup. The captain said that the performance of his team in the tournament will help them access their preparation for the World Cup scheduled for next year.

"Half of the teams participating in the World Cup are participating in the Asian Cup, so it is a great opportunity for us to see where we are, we have good memories of the ICC Champions Trophy last year, but we have new challenges for in front, "said Sarfraz Ahmed.

The Asia 2018 Cup is scheduled to take place from September 15 to 28. Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will meet in the first match of the tournament. The defending Indian champion, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, will play his first group match against Hong Kong on September 18.
