Ashley Tisdale admitted she is “still” not feeling “comfortable” in her own skin after the birth of her daughter Jupiter in March.

The High School Musical star, 35, opened up about her postpartum body emotions in a new post for her site French, titled Getting Real About My Body After Baby.

There, Ashley wrote about the effect of social media on self-esteem, noting, “There are so many models and influencers I’ve compared my own personal journey in ‘bounce back’ to… a baby and they look like this??”

Unabashedly, Ashley paired her post with an unfiltered mirror selfie showing her body three months after giving birth.

While Tisdale was quick to see how apps like Instagram “really f*** your head,” she said the comparisons still had a negative impact on her self-esteem.

“I’ve worked myself to death,” she explained. “Whether it’s walking, Pilates, riding my Peloton, and yet I still don’t feel comfortable in my body.”

“Yeah, I started fitting into jeans again, but not the size I wore before. Everyone keeps saying it takes time – it takes time to grow the baby and it takes time to lose the baby’s weight. And you know what? That is the truth.’

Ashley recalled a recent revelation she had when she was spending time with two other new moms.

‘[They were] They said I looked great and they wished they could fit in jeans,” she recalls.

“Here they thought I looked great and yet I sit at home looking in the mirror thinking I could look better. Then I realized we can’t compare our bodies.’

Tisdale reminded readers how diverse the experiences of different mothers are, writing, “Everyone is going to have a different journey and it’s important not to communicate negative feelings about our own bodies.

‘Thoughts like ‘you’re not good enough, you could look better’ need to stop! And they should especially stop when they realize that your body has just made a different person and has given life.’

“The bottom line is: be kind to yourself and fill yourself with love,” she continued.

“It’s okay to set a goal and be inspired by others, but we all need to really love ourselves and our bodies in every season.

“It’s easier said than done and I know there have been phases in my pregnancy where I felt uncomfortable.

“I still deal with plantar fasciitis, but even I try not to compare myself to others and their journeys after the baby. Love yourself first!’

In an interview with Forbes, Ashley gushed about life with her newborn.

‘Life is great. I mean, she’s so cute,” the High School Musical star told the magazine. “It’s so wild that she’s finally here. You spend so much time with her in yourself and then you’re like “Oh my God, she’s here!” I’m past the harder stuff you’re going through.

‘You go through a lot when you come home from the hospital. It’s just an adjustment for everyone in the family.

‘You learn about each other and as a mother, you go through a lot physically and mentally. Now I’m on the other side, which is great!’
