Avery, from Texas, explained at the start of the now viral video, which has so far garnered nearly two million views, that her rent was due, but that she was $300 short.
She had hoped to earn enough to cover what she was still owed during that shift, and after working 13-hour days at the restaurant, made enough home to cover the shortfall.

Dozens of social media users took to the comments section to express their shock, and one person admitted, “This is more than I do in two weeks.”
“Brother, I make $800 every two weeks,” wrote another person, while another viewer added, “God damn it, almost a thousand dollars in one day.”
“Why do the servers always claim to make a lot but then have no money for their bills?” another user asked.
Another person asked, “All I see is waitresses complaining about making $2 an hour, but then they go and make $631 over (13) hours.”
The average wage in the United States for someone with a bachelor’s degree is $25 an hour. I almost doubled it, wrote the same user in a separate comment.
