Artworks belonging to con artist Melissa Caddick sold at auction

Court-appointed liquidators and receivers Bruce Gleeson and Daniel Soire of Jones Partners have been identifying and selling Caddick assets to return funds to their victims.

In April, Caddick’s hairstylist husband, Anthony Koletti, sued for $30 million in his wife’s crime, including her Gucci wedding dress, $7 million in stock and five John Olsen paintings, including the most valuable, Giraffes & Wet Season.

Artworks owned by Sydney con artist Melissa Caddick have gone up for auction, including Luke Sciberras’ Study up for Shit Creek.

He also claimed jewelry including his white gold onyx cufflinks valued at $5,600, a $34,000 diamond ring, and his wedding band, valued at more than $26,500.

In May, Koletti justified his claims to his wife’s possessions by saying: “Melissa never gave me a dime… It’s not like I’m some desperate Double Bay housewife living off the wife. Why wouldn’t I be entitled to something?

Artworks owned by Sydney con artist Melissa Caddick have gone up for auction, including Jenny Orchard’s Totem for Martin.

This claim contradicted what Koletti told the Federal Court shortly after his wife first disappeared in November 2020.

The court heard that he only had $1.95 to his name and that since the COCID-19 pandemic, he had stopped working and was totally dependent on his wife.

“I have no income. Melissa Caddick pays my living expenses and those of our home in Dover Heights,” she said.

In June of this year, Koletti’s attorney told the Federal Court that he was dropping his claim related to his wife’s possessions because he wanted to move on with his life.

But last week, Koletti filed a new affidavit, this time claiming ownership of several expensive jewelry, as well as two Adrian Lockhart paintings.

Artwork owned by Sydney con artist Melissa Caddick has gone under, including David Gerstein’s happy hour.

“Circa 2015, Anthony Koletti purchased the artwork titled Love Song by Adrian Lockhart,” Koletti said in his recent affidavit.

He also claimed that his wife had given him an untitled abstract artwork, also by Adrian Lockhart.

Shapiro Auctions will auction off other fine art, jewelry and Caddick’s vast collection of designer clothing and accessories on December 5 and 6.

The following night, Caddick’s multi-million dollar jewelry collection, purchased with stolen funds, will be auctioned off by Smith & Singer.

Liquidators have already auctioned off Caddick’s Dover Heights home for what is believed to be around $10 million.

In February, Caddick’s Mercedes Benz and Koletti’s Audi sports car were auctioned for more than $360,000.
