Granit Xhaka admits he is ‘proud’ of Jose Mourinho’s positive feedback about him in the midst of a possible Roma transfer – as the iconic Portuguese boss ‘knows how to win titles’.
The Arsenal midfielder has been strongly linked to a move to the Italian capital this summer, and Roma have been reported to have opened talks with the 28-year-old about a possible summer move ahead of the European Championship kick-off.
While Xhaka claims he is fully focused on the international summer tournament with Switzerland that he is captain, the midfielder admits reading about Roma’s rumors that he is interested in him.

The Arsenal man told Look: ‘Of course I read (about the interest). But now I’m 100 percent focused on the national team here. That’s more important now than Arsenal or rumors.
‘I still have a contract for two years in London and Arsenal they know what they have in me. When it’s time to talk about a transfer, I’ll be there. ‘
Reports claim that Xhaka, who has a mixed relationship with Gunners supporters, wants to leave Arsenal this summer after the North Londoners fail to qualify for European football for the first time in 25 years.
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal once again finished eighth in the Premier League and failed to win the Europa League, FA Cup or Carabao Cup.
When asked about a move, Xhaka said he is only focused on Switzerland’s Euro 2020 bid
Roma boss Mourinho, who signed with Giallorossi earlier this month shortly after being fired by Tottenham, praised the Swiss midfielder when he discussed him in 2019.
The Portuguese manager told reporters that year: ‘Xhaka is the most important man in all of Arsenal’s midfield, you can’t see it unless I lend you one of my eyes.
Without him Arsenal would be lost. He is a leader. Remember that mistakes are made by people.’

Xhaka admits he is unaware of these comments from Mourinho, but says he enjoys hearing praise from such a respected figure in the game in this way.
The midfielder added: ‘To be honest, I haven’t heard what Mourinho said about me. But that makes you proud.
‘Everyone knows Mourinho, knows what he has achieved. Mourinho knows how to win titles. You can now see what kind of work I have done over the years. ‘
