Arsenal midfielder Frida Maanum appears “reactive” and “stable” after collapsing during the Continental League Cup final against Chelsea.
The midfielder fell to the ground unopposed in the 95th minute, in a worrying scene at Molineux.
Arsenal manager Jonas Eidevall was the first to notice that his player needed attention before Katie McCabe urgently called for doctors to come onto the pitch.
Maanum appeared unconscious before paramedics and members of Arsenal’s medical team began working on her.
There was silence in the stadium as a nine-minute delay occurred.
Finally she was taken off the field on a stretcher with an oxygen mask and the stadium fans gave her a standing ovation.
Maanum is now said to be stable and speaking, but will continue to be monitored by Arsenal’s medical team.
Arsenal published in X: ‘Frida is conscious, speaks and is stable. Our medical team will follow her closely. We are all with you, Frida.’
The delay occurred just before the match went into extra time, with the score 0-0 at the end of the 90 minutes.
Play resumed in the final minutes of regulation, with Alessio Russo replacing Maanum. Shortly after, the final whistle sounded, signaling another 30 minutes.
