Arsenal star Bukayo Saka wins his first ever Premier League award for the month

Bukayo Saka has been named the Premier League Player of the Month for March.

Arsenal tweeted their congratulations to the 21-year-old star, who has played a key role in the Arsenal side in their pursuit of glory in the Premier League.

Arsenal won all four of their league matches in March, with the in-form Saka scoring three goals for Mikel Arteta’s side and providing two assists.

This is the first time Saka has won the award, while he is only the second Arsenal player to beat the gong this season, after Martin Odegaard picked up the joint November/December award.

Saka is now the 22nd different Arsenal player to have achieved this title, the most of any club in Premier League history, As reported on the Arsenal website.

The 21-year-old scored the first goal in a 4-0 win over Everton at the start of March, as well as setting up Gabriel Martinelli for the second leg.

A brace in Arsenal’s 4-1 win over Crystal Palace at the Emirates, along with another Martinelli line-up, saw Saka doubling goals and assists in the top flight this season.

Arsenal teammate Leandro Trossard has also been nominated for the award, having bagged five assists during the month of March.

Aston Villa’s Tyrone Mings, Brighton’s Alexis McAllister, Liverpool’s Mo Salah and Newcastle’s Alexander Isaacs were also on the shortlist.

Arsenal start April with a home game against Leeds United on Saturday.
