Arsenal have reportedly entered the race to sign coveted winger Raphinha, 25, from Premier League rivals Leeds United.

The Brazilian forward has recently become one of the most exciting attacking players in the league and his performances have captured the interest of a number of European elites.

And according to The Telegraphthe Gunners have thrown their name into the fray, with Barcelona’s financial troubles potentially opening the door for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Raphinha has 17 goals and 12 assists for Leeds since coming over from Rennes for £16.74 million

The Brazilian winger, who can play on either flank with devastating effects, was on the cusp of moving to Barca this summer.

But Leeds boss Jesse Marsch said last month that the Brazilian remains committed to the club and said his crucial performances throughout the season were a hallmark of that.

He said: ‘He is 100 percent invested. His emotion, which has been talked about, can be interpreted as a lack of discipline.

‘I see it as a total investment. That part is not for me.’

Following Leeds’ dramatic survival from relegation to the Premier League, the West Yorkshire side’s valuation of the player is believed to have risen from around £21million to £55million.

And with Mikel Arteta leading his side back to the Europa League for the first time since 2019-20, the Gunners will look to improve their roster to counter the increased schedule.

Raphinha could contribute to a growing Brazilian contingent in the Emirates, joining Gabriel Magalhaes and Gabriel Martinelli in north London.

Arsenal’s technical director, former Brazil international Edu, has proven his ability to find talents in the Brazilian market, such as Martinelli and 19-year-old winger Marquinhos who are on the cusp of joining the club.

Raphinha could join his national team-mate, and Manchester City star Gabriel Jesus and Leicester City’s Belgian midfielder Youri Tielemans, who are both strongly linked with a move this summer.

But the Gunners could struggle to make an offer close to Leeds’ appreciation for Raphinha if they want to add him to their ranks alongside their current targets, without taking players from the Emirates first.

One player rumored to be leaving the club is Ivory Coast’s record striker Nicolas Pepe, who has had a torrid time with the Gunners since arriving from Lille in August 2019 for £72million.

Since joining the club from north London, Pepe has scored just 27 goals and 21 assists in 112 appearances for the club, as he has failed to live up to the expectations of his massive transfer fee.

In addition to LaLiga giants Barca, Liverpool are proposing a player-plus-cash deal, including Takumi Minamino, and West Ham are rumored to remain interested in the exciting winger after a bid was rejected in January.
