Jonas Eidevall has resigned as Arsenal Women’s coach following the club’s disappointing start to the season.
The Gunners won just one of their four Women’s Super League games and were thrashed 5-2 by Bayern Munich in their first Champions League group stage match.
An Arsenal supporter brought a fake P45 to the Emirates on Saturday, where Arsenal were beaten 2-1 by rivals Chelsea, while graffiti reading ‘Jonas Out’ was also seen near the stadium.
Mail Sport understands that, as well as facing criticism from fans, Eidevall had lost the Arsenal dressing room.
Commenting on the boos he and his team had faced after Saturday’s defeat to Chelsea, Eidevall said: “I totally understand that people feel disappointed when we don’t win football games and we are very disappointed too.”

Arsenal have won just one of their first four WSL matches and are already behind in the title race.
Eidevall came under increasing pressure from fans following Saturday’s defeat to Chelsea.
“We are really suffering, I am suffering, the players are suffering.” We want to do better, so I completely understand it at the time. Just as you can show emotions when we win, you can show emotions when you lose.
‘They invest everything, they travel, they support us, they give us absolutely everything. “I completely understand their frustration when we don’t win football games.”
The club is already five points behind WSL leaders Manchester City, and four points behind Chelsea, who have played one game less.
Assistant coach Renée Slegers has taken charge of the team on an interim basis.
A statement from sporting director Edu Gaspar said: “We thank Jonas for his commitment to the club and his achievements here since joining us in 2021.
“We have great respect for the dedication and commitment he has shown to our first women’s team and recognize the role he has played in the growth and development of Arsenal Women.

Eidevall joined the Gunners in 2021 and won two League Cups during his time in charge.
“We all wish him the best for the future.
“Our attention will now turn to the process of appointing a new head coach and, in the meantime, supporting Renee as she takes interim command of the team beginning with two important games this week.”
Slegers will take charge of the Champions League match against Valerenga and West Ham before the international break.
