Arsenal have officially unveiled Fabio Vieira after announcing his £30million move from Porto.
The Portuguese midfielder is the Premier League club’s first major signing during the summer transfer window.
Vieira, 22, said he “couldn’t be prouder” to join a “huge and historic” club like the Gunners.
He said: ‘I was born near Porto and played for Porto from the age of eight. I have always admired the way Arsenal play.
“There are many players I remember well over the years: ‘(Dennis) Bergkamp, (Cesc) Fabregas, (Santi) Cazorla, Thierry Henry.
“Arsenal is a huge and historic club. I’m so happy to be here and I couldn’t be prouder.”

Manager Mikel Arteta said: ‘I am very excited that we have identified and signed such a special talent.
Fabio is a very creative player who will bring high quality and versatility to our attacking game.
“We welcome Fabio and his family to our club and look forward to working with him for the new season.”
Vieira, a namesake of legendary former Gunners midfielder Patrick Vieira – now manager at Crystal Palace – will wear the number 21 shirt.

The attacking midfielder was vital to help Porto to their 30th league title last season
He made his breakthrough with the club from his hometown of Porto, making 75 appearances in all competitions in his three seasons with the Dragons, scoring 10 goals.
Vieira also has an impressive 13 goals in 21 caps for his country’s Under-21 side and was named Player of the Tournament at the 2021 UEFA European Under-21 Championship, where Portugal came second.
The 5’7″ star scored six times and provided 14 assists when Porto won the Primeira Liga last season.
He took a break from his post-season holiday in Mykonos to complete his medical and sign for the Gunners – and the move is now complete.

Technical director Edu continued: “We are so happy to have completed the signing of Fabio from FC Porto.
Fabio is a player with special qualities who is comfortable with the ball in the last third of the field. We are all looking forward to working with him and enjoying his future contribution to Arsenal.
“We will now continue to work hard and look forward to finishing this transfer window as strongly as possible.”
Arsenal also stated that the transfer is “subject to the completion of regulatory processes”.
