Arnold Schwarzenegger has expressed regret in his upcoming documentary for a “stupid” comment he made to Eunice Kennedy Shriver when he first met her daughter Maria Shriver.

Arnold, after being asked to appear at the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Tennis Tournament, was introduced at a party to Maria by his late mother Eunice.
‘[Eunice] walked up to me and said, ‘It’s so good to have you here. By the way, this is my daughter Maria Shriver,” Arnold recalled.
“Then later she said, ‘My daughter loves you a lot,’ and I said, ‘Well, your daughter has a really nice ass. I have to tell you,'” Arnold said .

Arnold in the Netflix documentary admitted his faux pas.
‘What a stupid thing to say. I don’t even know why I said that,” Arnold said.
The Terminator star added: “I really fell in love with Maria, not because she was a Kennedy but because she had an amazing personality.” I could see that little rebel in her. I wanted to flee Austria, she also wanted to flee. It was the beginning of Maria and me.
Arnold and Maria later married in 1986 and have children Katherine, Christina, Patrick and Christopher.
The former California governor also has a son, Joseph Baena, 25, from his affair with former domestic worker Mildred Baena.
Maria filed for divorce in July 2011, citing “irreconcilable differences” after learning of the affair.
Arnold in the documentary recalled the time when he told Maria of his infidelity and fatherhood of a child in love.
Maria was not interviewed in the documentary which will premiere Wednesday on Netflix.

During a marriage counseling session in 2011, the counselor said at the time: ‘Today Maria wants to be very specific about something,’ he revealed. “She wants to know if you’re Joseph’s father.”
Arnold recalls: “I thought my heart had stopped. And then I told the truth. “Yes, Maria. Joseph is my son.” She was obviously crushed by that.
He also shared in the documentary that Maria “freaked out” when he announced his intention to run for governor of California.
In the first episode of the project, the Hollywood icon also spoke about what it was really like for him and his late brother Meinhard to grow up as the son of a decorated Nazi soldier, who returned to Austria after the war in as a broken man and left to unleash abuse on his family.
Arnold will premiere Wednesday on Netflix.
