Armie Hammer is selling his truck because he “can’t afford gas anymore.”
On Tuesday, a day before his 38th birthday, he took to Instagram to post a video of himself explaining what he’s been up to since his acting career was thrown into disarray due to his scandals.
The update comes a month after he said he was “grateful” for allegations of cannibalism, sexual misconduct and a rape allegation that derailed his career in 2021.
The actor, who has not worked in Hollywood since the allegations against him surfaced, told fans he got a new “small” hybrid car because he can no longer afford the pickup truck, in a video he filmed in a CarMax parking lot.
He began his video by explaining that he returned to Los Angeles “a couple weeks ago” and plans to sell his truck so he can start his 38th year with “a new car, in a new apartment, in a new life.”

He began his video by explaining that he returned to Los Angeles “a couple weeks ago” and plans to sell his truck so he can start his 38th year with “a new car, in a new apartment, in a new life.”
“This is my truck,” he said, presenting the vehicle he has owned for seven years. “I bought it in 2017 as a Christmas present.”
He continued: “I have loved this truck dearly and have taken it camping and cross country several times and on long road trips and have taken it on one last road trip… to CarMax.”
He clarified that his video was “not an advertisement” and that he was just filming an update “because I’m selling my truck.”
“Since I came back to Los Angeles, I’ve spent between $400 and $500 on gas and I can’t afford it,” he admitted.
“I can’t pay for gas anymore,” he stressed.
“I mean, this truck brought the kids home from the hospital and all that,” Hammer added. “They were incredible trips, but you know what? That’s okay.”
He explained that he had already bought a new, “small” car.
“I got a new car. It’s small. It’s a hybrid,” he said. “I’ll probably spend about $10 a month on gas and that’s it. Here’s to new beginnings.”

“I’ve never been in a place where I felt happy with myself.”
He said he learned invaluable lessons and gained a new perspective after the scandal.
“I can look at it with some distance and perspective and think, ‘That’s hilarious. ‘ People called me a cannibal and everyone believed them. They were like, ‘Yeah, that guy ate people. ‘ They were like, ‘What? What are you talking about? ‘
