An eight-year-old student decided to dress up as her teacher for ‘Superhero Day’ at school, and the touching gesture has left people around the world feeling emotional.

When students at RE Baker Elementary School in Bentonville, Arkansas, were asked to wear an outfit that resembled their favorite superheroes, second grader Caroline Carlson told mom Cortney she wanted to pick her teacher, Jamie Deigh.

Cortney helped her daughter style her hair nicely, using curlers, and approached the teacher to see what she would wear so they could match.

And when Jaime found out that little Caroline had chosen her as her favorite heroine, she was “blown away.”

“You never know the impact you have on someone every day through daily interaction,” he said. foxnewsas they discussed the touching moment.

Cortney added: “All week Caroline was like, ‘I want to be like Miss Deigh. She’s a superhero.'”

“The part that melted my heart was that she had her mom curl her hair, she wanted her hair to look like mine,” she continued.

“You have kids who aren’t seeing other teachers who look like me, and for her to think that she wants to look like me, and that I’m her superhero…it really touched my heart.”

Jaime explained that as soon as he saw the girl’s outfit, which included a RE Baker T-shirt, jean jacket, and jeans, “they held hands and hugged.”

Mrs Deigh was so honored that she wanted to ‘show everyone’.

She explained: ‘We really wanted to parade around the school. We were so excited.

‘(Caroline) making this amazing gesture of calling me her ‘superhero’, was just the icing on the cake of who she is as a child. And she made me understand why I do what I do every day.

The Bentonville School District shared a sweet photo of Caroline and Jaime together on their Facebook page, and many people took to the comments section to share their thoughts.

Cortney added that she has “peace of mind” knowing that “someone like Mrs. Deigh” is teaching Caroline.

“She’s such an impactful role model that he spends all day with,” he gushed. “I send her to school with such a happy feeling.”

The Bentonville School District shared a sweet photo of Caroline and Jaime together on their Facebook page, and it quickly went viral, capturing the hearts of people around the world.
