Sylvia Sanchez said her son Arjo Atayde made the right choice in his choice Maine Mendoza as his wife, saying the TV host-actress is the type of partner who is “very supportive” of her husband’s efforts.
Sanchez sang praises for her daughter-in-law during a brief interview with reporters at the famed “Monster” premiere earlier this month, according to Researcher Bandera.
“Si Maine (Mendoza), asawa na niya, natutuwa na ako. Less na ako sama-sama sa kanya (Arjo Atayde). Nakakatuwa kasi talagang si Maine, misis na misis kay Arjo (Maine is his wife and I am happy. I don’t accompany Arjo Atayde to events as often as before, but Maine is a devoted wife to my son),” she was quoted as saying .
Sanchez also revealed that Mendoza will now accompany Atayde when he has to fulfill his duties as an actor and producer.
“Talagang sobra niyang supports si Arjo. Nandu’n siya talaga. Talagang nakikita kong mabait siyang asawa (She really supports Arjo. She is willing to always be there for him. I see that she is a very good wife),” she said, noting how much she loves the “EAT” host can feel for Atayde.
“Hindi nagkamali e anak ko sa pagpili kay Maine. Nakampante siya, nakampante ako na merong Maine Mendoza na nag-aalaga at nagmamahal sa anak ko ngayon (My son did not make a mistake in choosing Maine. He feels safe. I also feel safe that he has a Maine Mendoza who is for him care him and love him),” she further said.
Before getting involved with Atayde, Mendoza was previously linked to Alden Richards for which they were collectively known as the ‘AlDub’, a mix of their names (Alden and Yaya Dub) on the then Kapuso afternoon show ‘Eat Bulaga’.
Richards recently came clean during an interview with ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda’ that he fell in love with Mendoza while they were a love team.
“Hypocritical po ako kung hindi… ayoko po sabihing alam niya pero I have confessed,” he told Abunda. (I would be a hypocrite if I said no…I don’t want to speak for her and say she knew about it, but I did admit it.)
Mendoza and Atayde got married last July in a private ceremony in Baguio City witnessed by their close friends and family. EDV
