An Arizona woman and wife of a U.S. Air Force employee admitted poisoning her husband by repeatedly pouring a liquid she said was bleach into a coffee machine.

Melody Felicano Johnson was arrested in August and charged with attempting to murder Roby Johnson. She had filed for divorce, but they continued living together while the process was finalized: he noticed that her coffee had a strange taste and began to suspect that she was trying to kill him to claim her life insurance policy.

On Monday, Johnson pleaded guilty to two counts of food or beverage poisoning and admitted putting bleach in her husband’s coffee maker on July 11 and 18 last year.

Johnson faces sentencing on May 10 and could receive up to four years in prison, although his sentence could be limited to time served, according to 13 News.

Roby Johnson placed a series of hidden cameras inside his home and ABC News obtained the footage on Friday.

A camera caught Melody in the laundry room, pouring bleach from a large bottle into a small container.

Another caught her looking over her shoulder while pouring liquid into the kitchen coffee machine.

Roby Johnson also filmed herself testing the water inside the coffee machine with a pool chemical test kit. He showed the results on camera, showing that there was an extremely high level of chlorine in the water, and said he “stinks” of bleach.

Melody Johnson is in custody and the judge ruled that she was a flight risk since she had recently purchased a house in the Philippines.

He has not entered a plea and is due back in court on November 6.

A grand jury indicted her on charges of attempted first-degree murder, attempt to commit aggravated assault and food or beverage poisoning.

Johnson was destined to work in Germany in March 2023 when he thought his coffee started to taste “very bad.”

His wife made his coffee the night before, so in the morning he just had to turn on the machine.

Johnson faces sentencing on May 10 and could receive up to four years in prison, although his sentence could be limited to time served.

According to the report, he continued to pretend to drink coffee, but did not file a police report until he returned to Davis Monthan Air Force Base in the United States in July.

After collecting all the footage, Johnson went back to the police and showed them his evidence.

Police then arrested Melody at the home and a search warrant reported that the coffee maker smelled like bleach.

The documents also revealed that the husband thought she was trying to kill him “to collect death benefits.”
