An Arizona woman accused of killing her two eight-year-old autistic grandsons because the care for them had become too full-time was charged with two murders.

Dorothy Lee Flood, 55, was charged on Wednesday after being accused of repeatedly killing her grandsons Jaden and Jorden Webb at her home in Tucson on April 4.

According to the police, Flood admitted having shot the boys before trying to kill herself by taking an overdose of medication.

Authorities were called to the house after reports of medical care and found that Flood did not respond to what she believed was an overdose.

First responders found the two boys dead in separate bedrooms.

They had suffered gunshots on their head and body.

Flood was rushed to the hospital for treatment and was arrested the next day.

Investigators said they had found a gun and ammunition in her house.

A family member told investigators that Flood had said the boys had become too much for her.

The boys, both autistic, apparently had trouble sleeping in the last six weeks.

Flood took the boys and was their only caretaker after their mother Kristen Webb – who was her daughter – committed suicide two years ago.

Neighbors were shocked when they learned about the arrest of Flood and said that she was regularly spotted with her grandsons in their yard.

Flood, who is still in jail with a $ 250,000 bail after fearing she will commit suicide again, was charged on Wednesday.

She was charged with two first-degree murders on Wednesday.

It is unclear whether she has a lawyer to speak on her behalf about the case.
