Ariel Winter supports Britney Spears as the pop star wages her ongoing battle for the conservatory.
In 2015, when she was a 17-year-old TV star on Modern Family, Ariel managed to be emancipated after a legal battle between her mother and sister.
“I support Britney. I think Britney is incredible. Her story is incredibly moving. I listened to her testimony,” Ariel, 23, said. Entertainment tonight.

“I think she’s so smart, so capable. She should be absolutely free to live her life, to be in control of her life, in control of herself. I find it absurd that this is the situation she is in. Unfortunately, I think the legal system is corrupt.’
Ariel added: “I feel for her. I hope she takes control of her life, her situation, everything as soon as possible. I really hope that people who stopped her from doing that suffer the consequences, because she deserves all the happiness, freedom, love and control over her life that she should have.”
Her own family drama went public in 2012 when her older sister Shanelle Workman accused their mother Chrisoula of physical and emotional abuse towards Ariel.
At the time, Ariel was just 14 years old and Shanelle, who is 20 years her senior, asked for custody of her little sister.

Shanelle was quickly able to gain temporary custody, and Ariel’s father Glenn Workman temporarily took control of his teenage daughter’s estate.
It wasn’t until 2014 that the family reached a tentative agreement under which Shanelle would retain custody of Ariel throughout her minority.
Chrisoula firmly denied the allegations of abuse, but after the agreement was reached, she and Shanelle jointly said, “The family is over the conflict.”
In May 2015, Ariel happily announced on social media: ‘I am now officially emancipated!!! I am really lucky to have a great support system and lovely people in my life who have given me the support and guidance to get this great opportunity.”
Throwback: In 2015, when she was a 17-year-old TV star on Modern Family, Ariel managed to get emancipated; she will be pictured at the SAG Awards in January januari
She added: ‘Most importantly I would like to thank @shanelle_gray and my father for their special support regarding this matter, I really couldn’t have done it without them.’
Britney has been under custody since 2008 after she suffered a breakdown and allegedly locked herself and her sons in the bathroom during a custody dispute with her ex-husband Kevin Federline.
Lately, she’s been waging a lengthy legal battle to try to expel her father Jamie Spears from her conservatory.
Last month, Britney claimed her conservatorship had left her “traumatized” and “depressed” and demanded that her father – who was in charge of her entire conservatory but now only oversees her financial affairs – go to jail.

“They make me go to therapy and a psychiatrist three times a week,” said Britney, who also claimed that her conservatory prevents her from having her IUD removed.
“I do believe this conservatorship is insulting. I don’t feel like I can live a full life. In the meantime, I want this therapist to come to my house, I’m not willing to go to Westlake… They framed me by sending me to the most exposed places. I need your help,” said the Womanizer hitmaker.
‘My father and everyone involved in this conservatory, including my management…. they should be in jail.”
Until last month, she was represented by court-appointed attorney Samuel Ingham, who had been her attorney for 13 years.
Who’s who: Ariel rose to fame playing the biting teen Alex Dunphy in the sitcom Modern Family for which she is depicted in a publicity photo
But after asking to choose her own lawyer in a hearing last month, Samuel resigned.
Last week she took a big win when she was allowed to hire her own lawyer and retained the services of one Mathew Rosengart.
“My firm and I are aggressively and swiftly petitioning to remove Jamie Spears. Unless he resigns first,” Mathew said as he spoke to Britney’s supporters outside a Los Angeles courthouse.
