Ariana Grande revealed she feared she was being “fished” after receiving a message from English singer-songwriter Imogen Heap.
When asked if she ever got starstruck, the Wicked star, 31, hilariously recalled her first interactions with Heap, 47, who she described as “brilliant in every way.”
‘Imogen Heap is my idol, my number one favorite musician, songwriter and producer of all time. “The first time I received a message from her I thought they were cheating on me,” the singer admitted. W Magazine.
Grande previously included a new version of Heap’s song, Goodnight and Go, on her album, Sweetener.
In 2018, Heap confirmed Billboard that she and Grande had met ‘a few times’ before and that she had previously seen the covers of his superstar work.
‘I think for her 21st birthday, her mom emailed me somehow and asked, “Can Ariana come over for dinner?” Then she came to my house in the middle of the countryside on the outskirts of London and I didn’t have my mobile on so I couldn’t hear her calling me and they were completely lost going up and down this strange little country lane. “Grande recalled.

He continued: “I think Ariana really thought it was a big setup where they were going to kill her. Finally I opened the door and there she was. I knew she was coming so I cooked her some lentils because she’s vegan.
In 2014, Grande told Seventeen that she would “love to collaborate with” Heap, who she said was her “favorite artist of all time.”
“I adore her,” the singer gushed. ‘Everything she has released, I completely devoured and learned every lyric, every harmony, every part. She has inspired me so much over the years and I would love to work with her if I could get through the session without crying or having a breakdown and crying my eyes out.’
During her latest interview with W Magazine, Grande also talked about her love for The Wizard of Oz as a child.
‘I used to sit in front of the TV in my little plaid dress and study Judy Garland’s body movements, how she behaved and Toto. “My first impersonation may have been Judy Garland,” he said.
Grande continued, “I’ve always been fascinated by sounds, tones, and different accents; my earliest memory is singing with my mom in the car to songs by Barbra Streisand or *NSYNC or Over the Rainbow.” I don’t remember a time when singing wasn’t part of my life.’
She also reflected on a memory of herself “watching The Wizard of Oz in the plaid dress paired with a Scream mask.”
When asked why a Scream mask, Grande explained that it was her “creative vision.”

“I said, ‘I need to spin this and wear it with a Jason mask or a Scream mask’ or something. But I was a big fan of music in general. It’s a little controversial to say, but I loved Avenue Q. , even though it won the Tony for Best Musical over Wicked. But Wicked, of course, is my number one,” he told the outlet.
The former child star, who rose to fame as Cat Valentine in the Nickelodeon comedy Victorious, also revealed that her first acting role was a ‘bumblebee in a school play.’
‘I spontaneously did something on stage that I didn’t ask the teacher for permission to do. I ripped the stinger out of my costume and stung one of my fellow actors. He had to be around 5 or 6 years old,” Grande said.
Grande previously included a new version of Heap’s song, Goodnight and Go, on her hit album, Sweetener (released in 2020).
As for whether there is any movie that makes her cry, the singer said that The Waterboy, with Adam Sandler, makes her cry.
‘When they are mean to Bobby Boucher, I cry. I don’t like. I love Bobby Boucher. He says, “Could you still be my friend?” and I lose it. But I cry for everything,’ he explained.
Grande also stated that her favorite reality show is Love Is Blind.
“That series is just fantastic to me,” he said, before noting that he “sometimes checks” if they’re still together on Instagram.
