Are you feeling better now, Jack? Grealish reveals he was ‘on the toilet’ in HALF-TIME against Liverpool

Are you feeling better now, Jack? Grealish reveals he was ‘on the toilet’ in HALF-TIME as he had an illness before facing Liverpool… but didn’t show his illness in man of the match display

  • Jack Grealish was left out with an illness ahead of Manchester City’s victory over Liverpool
  • Grealish shone with a goal and set up City to a 4-1 victory on Saturday afternoon
  • The Englishman explained how he spent most of his half-time in the toilets

Jack Grealish has revealed how he missed the majority of Pep Guardiola’s halftime talk in Manchester City’s 4-1 win over Liverpool because he was on the toilet after experiencing a stomach ache.

Grealish was named man of the match for his stunning performance in City’s dominant victory over Jurgen Klopp’s side, but he explained he had spent most of Saturday morning feeling ill.

Liverpool stunned Premier League title chasings with a superb counter-attacking finish through Mohamed Salah before Grealish helped lift City level as a cross was cleared by striker Julian Alvarez.

Speaking full-time on BT Sport, Grealish said: ‘I was on the toilet feeling sick all morning but wheezing by the end.

“I love football, I love playing, I love coaching and when things are going right and things like that, there is nothing better,” he added.

There were no signs of illness on the pitch as the England winger ended an impressive outing by scoring the last goal of the game in the 74th minute as his curling shot crept into the bottom corner.

Man City kept the pressure on Premier League leaders Arsenal with an emphatic victory over a struggling Liverpool side who once again struggled to build impressiveness.

Grealish impressed and produced what is arguably his best performance in a City shirt since his £100m win for the Premier League champions in 2021.

He has scored eight assists in all competitions since returning from the World Cup in Qatar with England as Man City continue their chase for the Premier League title once again and the Champions League title for the first time.

City boss Pep Guardiola has been so impressed with Grealish’s star qualities throughout, highlighting his defensive qualities that saw him drop back to deny Salah a second goal on Saturday.

“I think this season it was Jack who we thought could help us,” Guardiola said.

With the ball, Riyad (Mahrez) was also exceptional. I can’t name one better than the other, all were exceptional’.

Meanwhile, Grealish’s teammate, Erling Haaland, was forced to watch from the stands as he recovered from an injury he picked up against Burnley just before the international break.

Instead, the Norwegian was seen cheering emphatically from the Etihad stands as City rioted in the second half against Liverpool.
