If this year had gone to plan then we’d be bang in the middle of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
But sadly the best show on earth has had to be rescheduled due to the pandemic.
We don’t know about you, but we’re missing it. We LOVE the Olympic Games. The excitement, the world records, the tears, the commitment of the athletes; frankly it’s just the best!
So seeing as it’s not happening, we’ve decided to combine two of our favourite things – the Olympics and fashion – and compile our list of the most stylish Olympians ever.
From tennis to snowboarding and boxing to swimming, these amazing humans are not only incredible sporting stars but style stars too!
Who’s your favourite? Let us know in the comments below.
THE WARRIOR WOMEN
These women are an inspiration whether they’re working up a sweat or working a killer heel.
Dina Asher Smith
Dina Asher-Smith with her medal at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games alongside Asha Philip, Desiree Henry and Daryll Neita of Great Britain’s Women’s 4 x 100 meter Relay team
L-R: Dina looking amazing at the The Fashion Awards in 2018 and looking ultra chic at the Prince’s Trust Awards earlier this year
Dina Asher-Smith how we love you.
Not only is this Team GB athlete one of the fastest women on the planet, she’s also super chic.
We had trouble choosing which of her off-track looks to feature because there are just so many good ones.
Check her out at the Fashion Awards in this wonderful cupcake confection with its acres of fabric and adorable off-shoulder style.
Or how can we resist her in that ultra sleek jumpsuit? We love the clean lines and contrasting colour blocking.
Dina we salute you.
Serena Williams and sister Venus Williams on the podium at the London 2012 Olympic Games
L-R: Serena Williams in a slinky slip dress at a premiere in New York last year and killing it at the Sports Illustrated Fashionable 50 event in Los Angeles in 2019
Serena Williams is surely one of the the most successful athletes of all time.
With 23 Grand Slam singles titles (not to mention Olympic medals and doubles titles) she’s a true inspiration.
And we’re big fans of her style too.
At a premiere in New York last year she looked stunning in a slinky silver slip dress which she wore with some fabulous neon yellow heels.
And this vinyl pencil skirt, worn with a simple white tank top is such a great look while the layered necklaces and strappy sandals prove again that she really knows how to put together an outfit.
Ah Serena, when we grow up we want to be you.
Lindsey Vonn on the podium during the medal ceremony for the alpine skiing Women’s Downhill at the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympic Games
L-R: Lindsey Vonn looking sensational at Vanity Fair’s Best-Dressed 2018 event and is lush in lace at the Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party in 2019
Lindsey Vonn is an American skier and a champion skier at that.
And at five feet 10 with that long blonde hair she looks like a model. It’s no wonder she always nails it when she’s on the red carpet.
There are tonnes of examples of her sexy style but we had to pick just two.
This frilled affair with racy thigh split is gorgeous on Lindsey while the floaty black lace of her gown at 2019’s Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party, is all kinds of lovely.
We’re also loving the side swept plait and that statement red lip.
Well played Lindsey, well played.
Heather Watson mid-match at the London 2010 Olympic Games
L-R: Heather Watson is beautiful in blue at the Wimbledon Winners Dinner in 2017 and stylish in scarlet at the Pride of Sport awards in the same year
Heather Watson is one of the UK’s best tennis players and she’s a dab hand at looking as powerful off the court as she is on it.
In 2017 she attended the Wimbledon Winners’ Dinner in London in this rather wonderful blue gown.
We’re obsessed with the asymmetric cut of the bandeau neckline while that shiny gold belt nips her in at the waist, making the most of her slender figure.
And in the same year she rocked red at the Pride of Sport Awards in a sheer lace dress, matched with bold red lips and a sleek pony tail.
It’s fair to say she looked ‘Ace’! Sorry…
THE MAGNIFICENT MEN
Is it possible for sportsmen to be stylish? Yes it is and we have the evidence….
Roger Federer with his gold medal on Day 8 of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games
L-R: Roger Federer is just a dream as he prepares for the Laver Cup last year and looking fly on a night out in London
Ah Roger Federer.
THE epitome of an elegant gentleman. What an absolute classic he is.
On court he’s focused and always calm and off court he’s a dapper dreamboat.
It’s partly the hair we have to admit. It’s just so luscious and cut so well… But he’s also really good at getting dressed.
We love this white jeans and grey knit combination. A very well fitting grey knit we might add.
And then he knocks it out of the park in a leather bomber jacket while out for dinner in London.
Roger, you’ll always be our ultimate sporting style crush.
Game, set and match to Mr Federer!
Sorry… no more tennis puns.
Anthony Joshua celebrates his gold medal at the London 2010 Olympic Games
L-R: Anthony Joshua is elegant after lunch in London in 2018 and demonstrating the power of a suit at a TV event earlier this year
Well what can we say about homegrown Anthony Joshua?
He’s a world champion and an Olympic champion and he has a smile that would light up any room.
Plus, he’s no slouch when it comes to looking as good out of the ring as he does in it.
Check him out as he left a lunch in London a couple of years ago. The black jeans, fitted sweater and overcoat are just perfect, not to mention those extremely smart bags.
And what’s not to love about his take on tailoring? This grey suit fits him like a glove and there’s something very nonchalant about rocking it with trainers.
Yes, Anthony you are quite frankly a menswear adonis.
Shaun White on the podium with his gold medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics
L-R: Shaun White nailing the no socks look on a night out in Los Angeles last year and looking ace in tailoring and a tee at a film premiere in the same year
If you don’t know who Shaun White is then get to know.
This gold medal winning snowboarder is a legendary figure in his sport as well as among the skate kids and X-Games fans around the world.
And come on, there’s something inherently cool about a snowboarder… They’ve just got swagger.
Shaun also has swagger when he’s not hitting the slopes, even making the no socks trend look great.
And like Roger Federer he’s been blessed with incredible hair, which we’re enjoying both slightly longer and cut close at the sides.
Also a fan of the suit with a T-shirt vibe, Shaun is all-round the coolest athlete on our list.
