Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) has finally chosen to resolve the class action lawsuit that accused the company of spying on users through Siri by paying $95 million. The legal case claimed that Apple activated the Siri virtual assistant without the user’s request and passed on voice recordings to advertisers.

This explains why we may be presented with suitable advertisements that we have never looked for. Siri was designed only to respond to voice commands that start with Hey Siri and when we intend to use it by pressing the home button or button. But over time it listened to conversations even when we weren’t using it and sent the recorded information to advertisers to serve specific ads.

However, even after a settlement was reached, Apple stated that they had done nothing wrong. Each party member who was part of the deal potentially eligible to receive up to $20 for each Siri-equipped device, up to five devices. Not all iPhone or Siri-enabled device owners will receive the payment automatically; They must be part of the class action to qualify.
