A fire at an apartment building in West Covina killed three people on Sunday morning, an elderly woman and two young children, according to authorities and media reports.
The fire was reported at the Rollingwood Apartments just before 1 a.m., authorities said. First responders found an apartment in flames and improved the response to a fire with two alarms requiring more personnel on the scene.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived and assisted in putting out the blaze by sending crews from two neighboring stations, a spokesman said.
The West Covina Police and Fire Department were unavailable for further details.
Residents of the apartment building were evacuated, one of whom spoke KTLA TV and described the fire as “outrageous, a very big fire.”
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
