Trump supporters line up to enter Crotona Park in the Bronx for the former president's rally

When DailyMail.com asked a New Yorker at Donald Trump’s rally in the Bronx what she thought about Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the answer was too explicit to print.

It was a sentiment shared by many of the thousands of people who watched the former president’s campaign Thursday and who are tired of being taken for granted by President Joe Biden and Democrats.

AOC said the event in one of the bluest counties in the country would be a “muddy mess,” posting “God is Good” as it started to rain and urging most black and Hispanic locals not to show up.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul also sparked fury by appearing to call MAGA fans “clowns.”

But the message from the hordes that showed up was clear: They were there for Trump and Democrats should be worried.

The crowd booed when they heard the squad member’s name mentioned and said he “doesn’t belong here.”

Jessica Stinnett of Manhattan slammed the congresswoman, arguing that “there is no longer respect for America or the American people” because of lawmakers like her and Biden.

“It’s time for us to come and fight,” he said of New York Republicans pushing to make the state even redder.

Voters told Fox News before the rally that the Democratic representative should “stay out of the Bronx” and worry about the show of support from thousands of people wearing MAGA hats.

Fans wearing T-shirts with Trump’s mugshot and others decked out in Trump jewelry and tattoos crowded into Crotona Park to hear the former president speak while hundreds more waited outside the barricades.

Like the city, there was a more diverse crowd than many of the former president’s rallies that have taken place in recent months in battleground states. Trump declared the event a “love holiday.”

Other Trump supporters accused the congresswoman of doing “nothing for the Bronx.”

Before Trump’s rally on Thursday, New York Governor Kathy Hochul appeared on CNN where she used the word “clowns” to describe Trump supporters.

“Well, I’ll tell you what won’t make any difference, Jake, and that’s Donald Trump being the ringleader and inviting all his clowns to a place like the Bronx,” Hochul told host Jake Tapper.

“New York will never, ever support Donald Trump as president,” he added.

The comment was reminiscent of when Hillary Clinton labeled Trump supporters a “basket of deplorables” in a 2016 pre-election speech, sparking a fierce backlash. (Trump voters have since adopted the term, wearing “deplorable” T-shirts at numerous GOP events.)

Tatiana Ibrahim, who traveled to the Bronx on Thursday from Carmel, New York, criticized New York’s Democratic political leaders.

I think New York is a very strong state with a lot of people who really believe in our president and are really tested. They’ve woken up,’ he said.

“They are sick and tired of being put down, pushed around, pushed aside, taken advantage of. “These corrupt New York politicians have to go.”

The former president’s base that showed up in force for the campaign event in one of the bluest counties in the country sent a clear message to elected Democrats in New York: where the Republican presidential candidate goes, they will follow and some already They are there.

Several thousand people decked out in their red MAGA hats, Trump-printed T-shirts, even sporting Trump jewelry and MAGA tattoos, crowded into Crotona Park to hear the former president speak while hundreds more waited outside the barricades.

Like the city, there was a more diverse crowd than many of the former president’s rallies that have taken place in recent months in battleground states. Trump declared the event a “love holiday.”

The former president is seeking to draw more Black and Latino voters away from Biden in 2024, as polls show support for the 81-year-old incumbent declining among the largely Democratic base.

DailyMail.com spoke to a diverse number of Bronx residents who were Trump voters and were ecstatic that he showed up to speak.

Trump was the first Republican presidential candidate to hold a campaign event in the Bronx in more than 40 years. The last to do so was Ronald Reagan in 1984.

And Trump supporters in New York rejoiced at the visit and vowed to turn the city red.

‘I love it. I’m glad he’s here,” said Mel Easy, a Bronx resident and Trump supporter who is black. He proudly sported a red MAGA hat and voted for the former president in the last two elections.

Michael Vass, another Trump voter from the Bronx who lined up early, said he’s happy the Republican candidate is showing up.

“It’s an expression of the first amendment and the right to assemble,” Vass said. “I think it’s very important that we listen to everyone who is potentially going to lead this nation.”

The Bronx voted overwhelmingly for President Joe Biden in 2020. He received more than 83 percent of the county’s votes and more than 60 percent of the entire state.

But in a city as populous as New York, even with less than 16 percent of the vote in the Bronx in 2020, that still means more than 67,000 people voted for Trump.
