Roman Ramirez Baes — who claims he spent money to finance Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's shocking rise to Congress — says the 'Squad' Democrat 'betrayed' her district

A man who claims he spent money to finance Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s shocking rise to Congress says the “Squad” Democrat “betrayed” her district.

Ramon Ramirez Baez, a lifelong Democrat who voted for Donald Trump in November and is a committee member in the New York Assembly, claims he helped get her onto the debate stage and shore up her congressional campaign when she favored incumbent Democrat Joe Crowley.

Now Baez is working on behalf of the campaign to improve the Roosevelt Ave. section of Corona, Queens in AOC’s district, which has become a huge new red-light district thanks to the arrival of hordes of female Venezuelan migrants working as prostitutes.

Baez, a key member of the ‘Let’s Improve Roosevelt Ave.’ coalition, says Ocasio-Cortez, has been a ghost in Corona.

‘We never saw that lady, she never disappeared. She (did) nothing for the community, nothing, nothing.”

He told it Fox News digital that Ocasio-Cortez never shows up in her Queens office and is only available by appointment.

“She disappeared from my community. You never saw Alexandria in my community, no one saw her in her office. Always closed,” he said.

Baez believes his former protégé has forgotten the people who shocked the world by putting her in power.

‘What happened? You have to be (in) the community to be able to organize an event. She has never organized an event. I never saw Alexandria come for a town hall meeting, to listen to the community, nothing. She disappeared.’

“She goes everywhere, like a movie star, she goes to Texas, everywhere, but what about the community?”

He says the Ocasio-Cortez — who was inspired to run for Congress after working on Democratic Socialist Bernie Sanders’ 2016 campaign — pushed an agenda that he would have stopped had he known about it .

‘If she told me she was socialist, I would never support that. She is only defending the socialist agenda, which is not for the American people. She doesn’t understand what (socialism) means,” said Ramirez Baez, who has lived in Cuba and the Soviet Union.

He says he wants to apologize to the community because he supports her and believes she lied when she told him he was like a brother to her.

Ocasio-Cortez was re-elected to Congress with 68.9% of the vote in her district, which spans Queens and the Bronx.

DailyMail.com has contacted Ocasio-Cortez for comment.

Roosevelt Avenue in the Corona neighborhood of Queens captured the nation’s attention last year when it was revealed to be full of Venezuelan migrants offering sex services in the open air, the so-called “Market of Sweethearts.”

In recent weeks, we’ve seen sex workers walking the streets during the day, with many aggressively soliciting, even as children come home from school or during lunch breaks, as reported by PIX11 News.

Previously, the Bronx was home to the Big Apple’s highest concentration of sex workers.

Mayor Adams said the situation is just one of many ways the migrant crisis is impacting the city, which has received more than 120,000 new asylum seekers since last spring.

When asked by reporters about the open-air sex market, Adams said the situation had been brought to his attention and that he had visited the area himself, confirming that “illegal” activities take place in public at all hours of the day and night.

The Democrat said that according to the city’s “intel,” many of the sex workers are Venezuelan women who recently arrived in New York. It is unclear whether these women were sex workers at home and sold their bodies of their own free will, or whether they were trafficked and forcibly trafficked.

Last month, Adams announced a new seven-point plan called “Operation Restore Roosevelt.”

The effort will bring together more than a dozen city agencies in “a collaborative, sustained and intensive multi-agency response to address ongoing quality of life and public safety issues.”

“Roosevelt Avenue is one of the most diverse avenues in our city – it is home to businesses from all over the world and New Yorkers from all over the world live and raise their families nearby,” Adams said.

“This road should be the pride of our city, but for too long it has been plagued by persistent public safety and quality of life issues. We will not allow this to continue any longer.”
