Many customers reported being “locked out” of their accounts, unable to pay their rent, bills and groceries.
Bank says it is aware of issue currently affecting ANZ app, internet banking, credit/debit card transactions, ATM and branch services ahead of October long weekend for some states.
“A team of experts are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible,” a spokesperson said.
“We apologize for any disruption or inconvenience this causes and would like to reassure our customers that our top priority is to resolve this issue.”
The problem did not go down well with embarrassed customers.
“Well, that’s great!” I tried to pay the mobile mechanic and I can’t…embarrassed, it’s not even close to how I feel right now!’ a woman fumed.
Another added: “It’s Friday afternoon and our online banking and app isn’t working? We have workers and bills to pay! »
Customers also reported being unable to reach the bank through their phone line, with one person saying “everyone is having problems”.
Another went to their local ANZ branch and found it was “closed”.
“One young (man) said they were all excluded from their own system,” they said.
Others were just grateful to have the money on them.
