Anya Taylor-Joy has revealed that a 15-minute action scene in her new film Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga took 76 days to film.
The 28-year-old actress, who will play young Furiosa in the upcoming film, set 15 to 20 years before the events of Mad Max: Fury Road, spoke about the “wild” filming process of her latest film.
Anya leads the cast of the new Mad Max movie, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday and features an epic scene between the star and his younger self, played by Alyla Browne.
Appearing on The One Show on Thursday alongside her co-star Chris Hemsworth, 40, Anya gave hosts Roman Kemp and Lauren Laverne an insight into what filming such a long scene entails.
‘We filmed it for 78 days, 78 days!’ Anya said. ‘Yeah. It’s called Stowaway. “It was 100 percent the mountain we were all trying to climb.”

Anya takes on the role of young Furiosa in the film, which takes place 15 to 20 years before the events of Mad Max: Fury Road and is described as “a saga” to be told over a period of 15 years (in the photo). )
Anya went on to say that the scene was on its own because of how gigantic the task, aka second unit, was, and was directed by Guy Norton, who was a stuntman on the first Mad Max.
She continued: ‘It was wild! It was a lot of fun but really interesting because it all took place on the war rig, so I had it really planned out in my head like, “Okay, I’ve got a month and a half under the rig, a month on the side.” .
“When I finally got to the cabin with Tom Burke, he handed me a sandwich and said, ‘Well done, you did it,’ and I said, ‘Thank you.’
Roman asked Anya, whose character has little dialogue and shows much of her story through her eyes, how she maintained intensity during such a long shoot.
She responded: “The world of Mad Max encourages people who want to have an experience like this and since we all come to work as fans as well, that gives you extra energy and excitement because you just want to do the best you can.” You can do it with the franchise.
On whether she was worried about being a main character with few lines, Anya said: “You know, what’s crazy is that I was never worried about the lack of dialogue like you said, it made a lot of sense for the character, so I thought.” Yeah, yeah, I’ve got this.’ But George also had a very strict idea of how he wanted me to hold my face for a lot of the movie, so when you say I only had my eyes, it was really just this.
“I think there’s an element that escalated the situation because I’m sure she wants to talk about what’s going on in her life, but she’s just surviving. So yeah, I think it gave her that fire.”
Protagonist Chris, who plays Doctor Dementus, the warlord leader of the Bicycle Horde who kidnapped young Furiosa, nodded in agreement.
The film is a prequel to 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road, once again directed by creator George Miller, and is an origin story for Furiosa, played by Charlize Theron in the previous film.

“There was a beautiful intensity,” he said. “A sort of volcanic eruption about to happen, a restrained presence and a power that was waiting and simmering, which eventually takes us towards the top at the end of the film and we get to see something quite dynamic.” [stuff].’
The couple’s appearance on the BBC show came while they were flying to the UK from the south of France, where they attended the premiere of Furiosa in Cannes.
Anya looked every inch the leading lady as she walked the red carpet in a stunning strapless Dior dress with a corset-style top and Tiffany diamond jewellery.
She showed off her fashion credentials in the light gold number embellished with crystals and paired with a statement silver necklace.
Anya wore her blonde tresses in a sleek bob cut and wore simple earrings while opting for a hint of red lip for a pop of color.
His leading man Chris Hemsworth soon arrived in a dapper white suit and was joined by his glamorous wife Elsa Pataky, 47, who wore a sleek black dress.
For Anya, Furiosa at Cannes is a moment of coming full circle. The first time he came to the festival was to receive a Chopard trophy for emerging actor in 2017. He was introduced by the original Furiosa, Charlize Theron, the star of Fury Road.

Lead man Chris and his wife Elsa joined Anya and the film’s director, George Miller.
