Antoine Griezmann was forced to withdraw from the French squad for upcoming friendlies against Germany and Chile, ending his country’s run of 84 consecutive matches, a world record.
The Atletico Madrid star’s remarkable feat for the Blues dates back to a 4-0 win over the Netherlands in World Cup qualifying in August 2017.
The 32-year-old is fourth in the two-time World Cup winner’s all-time list of appearances with 127. He holds the same position in the goalscoring chart with 44.
He withdrew from Didier Deschamps’ squad due to an ankle injury which has caused him some problems in recent weeks.
Griezmann returned to action last Wednesday, playing 105 minutes of Atleti’s Champions League quarter-final second leg victory over Inter Milan.
