Millionaire antivirus pioneer John McAfee said Wednesday that he and five others have been released from detention in the Dominican Republic.
The forces and public prosecutor of the Caribbean island said earlier that McAfee was being detained along with US citizens Elizabeth McAfee and Richard Alan Gibson, Robert Whitfield of Germany, Oral Thompson of the Bahamas and Vasner Louis of Haiti.
They were suspected of traveling on a yacht with high-caliber weapons, ammunition, and military-style equipment, officials said.
McAfee tweeted: & # 39; I was treated well. My superiors were friendly and helpful. Despite the helpful circumstances, we have decided to continue. More Later. & # 39;

McAfee has been fleeing from various law enforcement agencies since 2012 due to his alleged involvement in a murder in Belize. He currently runs the IRS for not filing taxes.
Despite the fact that he is a fugitive, he is running on a cryptocurrency platform for the president in 2020.
He was an outspoken critic of the government, Trump, and global institutions, and claimed earlier this summer & # 39; captured & # 39; to have been hit in Cuba while running away from the IRS.
On Tuesday, his campaign leader Rob Benedicto Pacifico Juan Maria Loggia-Ramirez took over his Twitter account to claim that he had been detained.
McAfee campaign manager took over his Twitter account on Tuesday to say he was & # 39; detained & # 39; and threatened that if he did his next & # 39; check in & # 39; missed, & # 39; secret & # 39; data that he had stored around the world would be released
He wrote cryptically: & # 39; I have good reason to suspect that John McAfee and other companions have been detained by the authorities in their last port of call. I will use this account and provide updates as soon as they become possible.
& # 39; I last spoke to John when his boat went on board. The situation was tense but controlled. Our conversation was interrupted by authorities who seized their phones.
& # 39; The bastards wouldn't even give him a cigarette. & # 39;
He then created an ominous threat – that information would be released if John's his & # 39; next check-in & # 39; fog.
& # 39; If John misses his next check-in, events are triggered that I cannot prevent once they have started. John has written data with individuals around the world.
& # 39; I don't know their identity or locations. They will release their cargo if John goes missing, & he wrote.
On July 19, McAfee shared this photo of himself and his wife armed with weapons, claiming that the CIA had tried to & # 39; collect & # 39;

Last week McAfee tweeted from Cuba. He was on board with his wife and dogs.
Twitter users shared their skepticism on Tuesday about reports that he had been detained.
Loggia-Ramirez responded to Twitter and said: & There are also people who doubt the veracity of today's report. That is fair enough and can be forgiven. But you will find that you are mistaken – this is not a publicity stunt.
& Finally, to the few haters and authority-loving, boat-licking cowards looking for John's demise – what more can be said except goddamn it.
& # 39; Enjoy it as long as you can, because your time is coming. & # 39;

McAfee, 73, went to the high seas in January and fled with his wife Janice from his heavily fortified compound in Tennessee, claiming that a large jury was preparing to accuse him of tax-related costs.
Living in the Caribbean has also allowed McAfee to avoid a $ 25 million verdict in an unlawful death trial over the murder of his neighbor in Belize in 2012 – a crime he has never been accused of and is always serious denied.
McAfee was shown last year at a Coinsbank Blockchain Cruise Asia conference in Thailand. This year he sent a surrogate who according to him has mysteriously disappeared
