Anthony Martial landed in Spain on Tuesday afternoon with the French forward poised to complete a transfer from Manchester United to Seville.

The LaLiga side is said to have agreed to a £5m loan, while Martial was willing to make a pay cut to enable the deal – but there is no option for Sevilla to buy the French forward in the summer.

After posing for photos with the club crest at Seville airport on Tuesday, Martial will undergo a medical to complete the transfer and will spend the remainder of the 2021-22 season in Spain.

The 26-year-old had told United he wanted to leave with Sevilla his first choice. There were cautious approaches from other clubs such as Newcastle and Tottenham, but Martial was eager to go abroad.

Juventus and Barcelona were also interested, but did not want to take his salary.

Sevilla are challenging Real Madrid to the Spanish title with 16 games to go and Martial is excited at the prospect of a fresh start after turning old and frustrated at United.

sports post revealed last month that Martial, who came from Monaco for £36million in 2015, had had face-to-face conversations with Ralf Rangnick about how he wanted to change his environment.

Rangnick then shockingly revealed after United’s 2-2 draw against Aston Villa earlier this month that Martial had refused to join the squad for the Premier League clash in the Midlands, but the Frenchman denied those claims.

In an Instagram post later that evening, Martial revealed that he would “never disdain the club and the fans” by refusing to play, while continuing to deny Rangnick’s allegations.

Martial then made his first appearance since interim United boss Rangnick took charge when he came on as a substitute in Saturday’s 1-0 win against West Ham, and played a part in Marcus Rashford’s stoppage time winner.

But the 26-year-old, who has spent more than seven years at United, is finally putting an end to his nightmare on the sidelines of Old Trafford.

Martial has made 11 appearances for United this season, scoring one goal – against Everton on October 2.
