This Friday, March 7, the clash of two wrestling champions will take place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
One is a former world boxing champion looking to return to the top of the sport.
While the other left MMA at the peak of his success to pursue a career in the world of boxing.
Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou has been one of the most hyped boxing matches since their heavyweight fight was confirmed in January.
Both fighters have impeccable resumes as Joshua is a former world boxing champion and Ngannou dominated the MMA scene and even left the sport still in possession of the UFC heavyweight championship title.
Joshua and Ngannou, two of the biggest names in fighting, will pocket a considerable amount of cash for their fight this weekend, with the winner taking home a mouth-watering sum of money.
Anthony Joshua hopes this fight will put him back among the top heavyweight fighters as he looks to continue his boxing redemption after his back-to-back losses against Oleksandr Usyk.
Ngannou dominated the UFC heavyweight division and was widely criticized for leaving the sport while still a champion to pursue a boxing fight with Tyson Fury.
With such high profile names, the price of prize money to be handed out for the fight is high.
Joshua and Ngannou’s respective earnings for the fight taking place this Friday have not yet been made public.
However, a report from sports business journal stated that Joshua, 34, is expected to earn $50 million (£39 million) for his role in the fight.
His opponent Ngannou will reportedly take home $20m (£15m) for turning up to face Joshua.
These figures are also supported by Forbes and does not take into account pay-per-view points.
If the reported figures are confirmed, this will be a significant increase over Ngannou’s first professional boxing match against Tyson Fury.
According to Fury, the Cameroonian earned $10m (£7m) for the fight in which he knocked down the ‘Gypsy King’ before ultimately losing on a points decision.
The event is scheduled for Friday, March 8 at the Kingdom Arena.
Preliminary fights will begin around 5pm UK time / 10am PT / 12pm CT / 1pm ET.
Joshua and Ngannou are expected to enter the ring around 10:30 pm UK time / 3:30 pm PT / 5:30 CT / 6:30 ET.
Both fighters are expected to make their ring walks at around 10:30pm UK time on Friday, March 7 at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
