Anthony Joshua blows in search of Tyson Fury fight because Deontay Wilder has not said he will step aside
Anthony Joshua is blocked again to fight Tyson Fury again, as Deontay Wilder shows no signs of willingness to step aside to make boxing’s long-awaited fight happen.
- Tyson Fury is currently slated to feature Deontay Wilder in a trilogy
- Anthony Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, said he would like to meet Fury
- But Fury’s US promoters confirmed that Wilder has not said he is willing to step aside
Tyson Fury’s camp has not had any discussions with Deontay Wilder about stepping aside to allow a clash with Anthony Joshua.
Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn previously revealed that his client would be “ very interested ” to include WBC holder Fury in an undisputed battle with the IBF, WBA and WBO titles at stake.
Hearn has suggested that Wilder should be willing to “put that money aside.”
Tyson Fury is currently scheduled for a trilogy fight against Deontay Wilder
There is no mention of Wilder moving aside so that Fury can fight Anthony Joshua
But Wilder has no plans to give up the third fight against Fury, according to British promoter Top Rank.
When asked about a deal with Wilder for the American to step aside, Top Rank President Todd DuBoef said to Sky Sports, “I personally haven’t had any conversations about that. It’s not on my radar.
“I’m working with representatives from Wilder to come up with new potential dates for the Fury battle in late summer or early fall. We are also talking about potential locations.
“That fight breaks out as a result of [Joshua vs Fury] fight? I haven’t had any conversations about that.
Fury’s American promoter Top Rank suggested that no one had said Wilder was willing to step aside
“I haven’t heard they are willing to step aside. Nobody communicated that. ‘
Fury shredded Wilder in their second fight in February, 14 months after they controversially signed their first meeting.
Wilder is contractually entitled to a trilogy, which has been postponed to October due to the effects of the corona virus.
Joshua will instead take on Kubrat Pulev, with a date for that clash to be completed.
“We are currently contractually obliged to Wilder. Pulev and Joshua are contracted, “added DuBoef.
Joshua will include Kubrat Pulev in his next fight, with no date scheduled for that clash
“There is too much uncertainty across the board to speculate on [Joshua vs Fury] happens.
“In a perfect world without this virus, I might see a path [to Joshua vs Fury] but at the moment I don’t see it.
‘We are obliged to camp Wilder and we focus on that.
“It’s so cloudy even with two games, but to make a third game? That is even more cloudy. It’s really hard to see through the mess [Joshua vs Fury]. ‘
