Anthony Albanese has been photographed playing tennis in Perth, just a day after a terrorist attack at a synagogue in Melbourne.
Photos captured on Saturday at the Cottesloe Tennis Club in Perth show Mr Albanese dressed in white tennis gear as he plays in the sun.
Albanese has been widely criticized for not visiting the site of the synagogue attack and for taking 48 hours to label it a terrorist event.
The game took place during the same weekend that Albanese came under fire from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who accused his government of fueling a rise in anti-Semitism in Australia.
Many Australians called Mr Albanese for the tennis match.
“Synagogue burns down while people pray inside @AlboMP decides to play tennis in Cottesloe,” said one. “Unfit to lead.”
The Australian Jewish Association said “anti-Semitism has increased” under Anthony Albanese’s government and has been allowed to continue to proliferate.
“Labour has stood by as ugly anti-Semitic protests have taken over our streets, week after week,” said chief executive Robert Gregory.
‘They have stood by while ‘Free Palestine’ extremists attacked synagogues and Jewish schools. This week there was an anti-Semitic protest outside Sydney’s Great Synagogue.
‘Labour has stood by while extremist Islamic preachers preached toxic antisemitism. They have stood by while Jews were attacked in the streets and our universities were taken over by anti-Jewish radicals, setting up camps.
The terrorist attack took place just days after pro-Palestinian protesters gathered outside Sydney’s Great Synagogue on Wednesday night, while members of the Jewish community were hiding inside.
The group shouted “Palestine will be free” and raised a slogan calling for the eradication of the State of Israel.
Sky News reported that when police arrived at the scene, the synagogue was locked and those inside could not leave.
Last month, celebrity chef Matt Moran’s Chiswick restaurant was vandalized with anti-Israel slurs along with several cars in the Sydney suburb of Woollahra.
Several cars were painted with white spray paint that said “fuck Israel.”
Israel’s war in Gaza was sparked by the Hamas terrorist group’s attack on October 7, 2023, which killed 1,200 people and took 250 hostages, according to Israel’s count.
The official death toll in Gaza has surpassed 44,000, according to the local Health Ministry, and tens of thousands more are missing or believed to be buried under rubble.
This is a breaking story. More to come.
